Day 190 | December 2

Another day where I had a ton of work to do so I spent most of the day at home working. I did manage to find some time to workout. This was also our last day in Valencia so I had to get everything packed up for our very long trip to Mexico City tomorrow. In the evening I met some folks for tapas at La Pilareta and then went for drinks at Unic. As these things tend to… the evening steadily elevated until it proved to be a pretty late night.

Day 188 | November 30

Today we had our “farewell Valencia” party. I worked all day leading up to it. The end/beginning of the month is always hard on me since I get the busiest with work around that time and we are also always changing cities. Our farewell party was at this interesting ice cream place slash bar slash warehouse place with food trucks inside. We had a fella come and lead some salsa dancing and did the usual Remote Year craziness.

Day 187 | November 29

More rain today so I spent the day at home working. It finally broke in the evening so I went out to dinner with some folks at Moma which had a great tasting menu for less than twenty Euros. Since I was trying to dodge the rain I ducked into Cafe de las Horas on the way which had a very nice setting. After dinner we swung by to say goodbye to one of our group members who is leaving us for a while and then popped into this Irish pub Saint Martin’s for a drink.

Day 186 | November 28

It rained all day today. I talked to a local who told me that this is the most rain that they’ve had in the past decade. It meant another day of me being cooped up in the apartment all day and just toiling away. So not much interesting there.

Day 184 | November 26

Another pretty low key day today. It rained in the early part of the day so I stayed in and did some work. In the evening I went over to Mercado Colon and me a fellow remote for drinks. It just so happened that they were doing a big cava tasting so the place was totally packed. After that we went over to Ameyal and met some more people for dinner which was excellent.

Day 183 | November 25

For me today marks the halfway point through this one year journey. Just like I expected the time has flown by but at the same time it’s hard to believe how much I have packed in over the past six months. I didn’t do anything to mark the occasion as after a late night out of eating and drinking for Thanksgiving I just lounged around the house today and rounded out some work and rested. Pretty uneventful.

Day 182 | November 24

Thanksgiving Day. I still had to work so I spent most of the day working on that. The coincident timing of Thanksgiving and reaching the halfway point (tomorrow) in the trip had my feeling very homesick. Went to dinner at Ricard Camarena with one of my fellow remotes to celebrate. It was excellent and I’d highly recommend it to anyone in Valencia. Afterwards we went to Portland Ale House which is the “American Bar” in Valencia and had drinks with some other folks.

Day 181 | November 23

Another cloudy and rainy day in Valencia. I was hungry enough to brave the drizzle, though, so I walked over to Brunch Corner which has been getting a lot of attendance from my fellow remotes. Nice ambiance, good food, inexpensive. I can see why it’s well attended. I headed over to Wayco to work but finished all of the work I could in about an hour. Then I was stuck waiting for America to wake up so I decided to head back home and work from there for the rest of the day so I could conceivably do nothing the next day on Thanksgiving. In the end that didn’t pan out, though.
